Suwanee Ballet – of Suwanee Performing Arts – Receives “Nutcracker” Project Grant from Gwinnett Creativity Fund
Suwanee Performing Arts (SPA) is pleased to announce it has received a $3,500 project grant from the Gwinnett Creativity Fund. The funds will be used by Suwanee Performing Arts to support “The Best of The Nutcracker,” selections from The Nutcracker ballet, to be performed at the Eagle Theatre in Sugar Hill by Suwanee Ballet Company members and community dancers on December 12, 2020. The show will also be live-streamed on ShowTix4U (ticket details coming soon).
Suwanee Performing Arts (SPA) is a non-profit community arts organization founded on the principle “art is life.” SPA provides quality performance opportunities to, and by, the community, focusing on youth who may not have the opportunity to otherwise express themselves through the performing arts. All of SPA’s programs are supplemented by fundraisers, corporate sponsors, individual donors, and grants like this one.
Suwanee Ballet (SB), a program of Suwanee Performing Arts, is a youth dance company in which performers range in age from six to eighteen years of age. The dancers participate in performances throughout the year, including local festivals, annual winter and spring
performances, and Children’s Ballets, centered on introducing ballet and dance to the very young children in our community. Auditions are held every year in late spring; the commitment is yearlong for company members.

The Fund recognizes the inherent value of the arts to a community’s success and seeks to increase Gwinnett County’s profile as a cultural, inclusive destination where the arts educate, elevate, and inspire. Gwinnett Creativity Fund’s goals are to allow non-profit arts and cultural organizations to grow and evolve, provide programmatic and educational opportunities, engage underserved audiences, and enhance Gwinnett’s economic development and cultural landscape. This grant program is funded by Gwinnett County and administered by Explore Gwinnett.
