Gingerbread House Contest Rules
Theme: “Christmas Around the World”

ENTERING:
To be eligible for the competition, a completed entry form [which can be filled out in person or online] and fee, $15 per entry, is due with your submission(s). Entries can be dropped off at Suwanee Academy of the Arts during business hours between Dec. 2 – Dec. 7. All entries are due by Dec. 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM.

DESIGN:
While it is logical to assume that “gingerbread houses” are some sort of “house”, entries are not limited to the structure of a house. Competitors are welcome and encouraged to uniquely design their entry for the competition.

MATERIALS and CONSTRUCTION:
We make it easier than ever to compete! Whether you create from scratch, start with a kit, or cover a cardboard box with graham crackers, all entries are welcome.
All structural items used must be covered in food items. Due to the weight of the decorated structure we suggest using a cake board or even a piece of plywood as a base for your entry. If you would like to add lighting to your entry, you must provide your own extension cord.

JUDGING and PRIZES:
Judging will be held at 12:00 PM on Sat., Dec. 7, 2024. Winners of each category will have a ribbon placed next to their entry and notified via email.

Most original/creative

Best use of theme

Most creative use of candy

Most edible

Best overall appearance

Bonus Category – People’s Choice.
The winner of this category is determined by popular vote of the public. Each vote is $1. Voters can get tickets at Suwanee Academy of the Arts and personally stuff the ballot box of their favorite contest entry! Also, voting online through our website. There is no limit to the number of tickets a voter can submit! Voting is open from Sat., Dec. 7 at 11:00 AM until Sat., Dec. 21st at 8:00 PM.

The People’s Choice winner will be announced via live-stream to our Facebook page on December 21st! People’s Choice winner receives a $100 cash prize.
The winner will be notified via email and/or phone, and will be posted on SuwaneePerforms.org.

ENTRY PICK UP:

ALL ENTRIES will be on display in the halls of Suwanee Academy of the Arts from Dec. 2nd through Dec. 21st.

ALL ENTRIES should be picked up from the studio on either Dec. 21st from 8:00 – 9:30AM OR Dec. 22nd from 12:30 – 1:30PM.
Since the Studio is officially closed for Christmas after this time, we must dispose of any unclaimed entries! If you cannot pick up your entry but want to get your prize-winning submission home for your holidays, let us know and we will make other arrangements.
